From You
By Tom Stanley

There is a darkness that follows me,
It haunts me like an unhinged dream;
A shadow...
A shadow.
It sires my evils and traps my light,
With no end to it in sight.

I am darkness, nothing to see.
I am darkness, no place to be.
Just a hole, so deep inside,
That I can crawl into and hide
From you.

You see right through me,
Yet you don't understand my pain;
Am I real?
Do I feel?
You just gather like a coming storm,
Acting like terror is the norm.

I am terror, fear inside.
I am terror, by your side.
Just a hole; just a hole,
A blemish on my soul,
From you.

From you I have all of this,
Twisted nightmares come to life.
What have you done?
What am I doing?
I am a distant vision of my former life,
Haggard and beaten down by all my strife,
From you.

You made me who I am.
I don't even give a damn,
I wish for a hole to crawl right in and sink away,
Oh, I hope: I pray,
I hope and pray,
To pry my light away,
From you.
