Requiem For Those We Leave Behind
By Tom Stanley

My blood,
Running cold in my veins.
Seeking warmth in your arms,
Trying to find solace for my pains.
I live,
To be the one,
The one who helps find peace,
Where there is otherwise none.
Quietly I weep,
Weep inside for my trouble,
Stuck helplessly inside,
My private little bubble.
Isolated,
By my fears and dreams,
My rage and fire,
Yet my soul still screams.
Loudly,
Yet only in my head,
Only in my head,
And I'm here while your dead.
Lost,
But we will remember you,
For you are not gone,
You exist as long as our memories do.
An existence,
Not lived in vain,
Defined by those we leave behind,
By their love not their pain.
