Here is the awesome review of Super
Smash Bros. Brawl.
Gameplay: 10/10
Music/Sound: 10/10
Graphics: 9/10
I have already read many reviews on Brawl, (1 day after release) and many
have said that Brawl is just Melee version 1.1. I want to prove that wrong
with this review. (Why change something that's this good anyway?) This
game is one of a kind. Crossover characters abound in this game. From
Mario to Sonic to Solid Snake(OMG!). But that is not what this game is
about. The game's biggest focus is the multi player brawls. From Melee
they have added a few tweaks, like the Final Smashes. A floating ball
appears out of nowhere. It's called the smash ball. Like it says, smash it
until it's broken. Then you may use your final smash to obliterate your
foes. It's always satisfying to unleash those moves. There are also a ton
of new items. The Golden Hammer is my favorite. It's just like the normal
Hammer, but much more powerful. Also they have added assist trophies. They
act like the poke' balls but they have other Nintendo characters in them.
But aside from the multi player features, they have added a slew of new
single player features. The biggest addition is the improved adventure
mode. It is labeled as the Subspace Emissary (SSE). This time the game has
a story to it. Many of Nintendo's characters unite to fight off a
mysterious and unknown enemy. But I won't go into much detail of it, I
don't want to include spoilers. I will tell you now that this mode is kind
of hard (playing on Normal Difficulty). The A.I. is very smart on this
game. It is still the side scrolling game play that we are familiar with.
But you fight a bunch of original enemies, along with some familiar ones.
Not only that, you will also encounter giant (and I mean that) bosses. You
will also brawl with some of the characters in this mode. It is highly
improved from Melee. Not only is it longer (OMG!) it has many more
secrets. And you must find them all to get 100% of the game completed.
They have also brought back Classic mode (It wouldn't be Smash with out
it). But it's been modified greatly. Who you fight is completely random,
also on randomness you can fight up to 3 giants in one session, but it
random, even the first one that you fight can be a giant or a metal, or it
could be teams, you can just never tell. But they have taken off race to
the finish and get the trophies mode in classic. But there are six
difficulties of hit the targets. And they get really hard. But as always
you fight Master Hand at the end of the road.
All-Star mode also makes its return. But this time it is much harder to
finish without continuing. There are more characters to fight, and they
still only give you 3 heart containers. And they randomize it also, you
may fight up to six characters in one fight at random times. But less
bombs appear in fights this time. (Melee's version had too many bombs in
the fights) The event mode makes it's comeback in this game. Now you can
choose the difficulty of the events, to me that is a major improvement, I
like them to be really hard all the way through. And the home run contest
is back, a it's improved. You can now smash that sandbag around with out
it flying out of the ring. But you still have the time limit. They still
have the collectable trophies.
Fighting still has the same formula, but there are some changes in the
classic characters' moves. And some things are easier to pull off: per say
the wall jump.
Oh and guess what, IT HAS ONLINE MULTIPLAYER!!!!!!!!!!! That is what some
of us have been waiting for. And a stage builder, where you build your own
stages, and unlock more parts as you build more. (Sound's sorta like Halo
3 there, with it's forge mode.) It also has a replay mode where you can
save your videos of what you did. And now you can take a snapshot at any
time in the game.
So I give the gameplay a 10 of out 10.
Music, it's collectable in this game. There is many more songs in this
game. Some of which the famous composer Nobuo Uemastu has made many of the
original compositions in this game. Most of the songs are remixed to have
that brawl feel to them. Many are straight up rips from the older games.
But they all feel at home on this game.
So I give the Music a 10 out of 10.
Now for the graphics, this is the Wii we are talking about. It can pull
somethings off, like in Metriod Prime 3, and Super Mario Galaxy. The
graphics are a step up from Melee, but better than most games on the Wii.
Some of the effects are really good. Like the lighting, it pulls off some
crazy effects on the characters. This time the metal characters have some
detail on them, other than a reflective surface.
So I give the Graphics a 9 out of 10
All in all this is not Melee version 1.1 (that means bug fix) This a new
game all to itself. Buy the game (if you have a Wii) or I'll break your
thumbs! (Melee version 1.1 came out with the Player's Choice, many bug
fixes. So ha!)
The game itself 11 out of 10 (lol)! |
