Dawn of a New Age
By
TimeStop

In the past
We used to try all sorts
Of things.
Remember?

I can think of times like that.
Before all of this existed
Before everything came to be.
Everyone looks at us now
With their
Odd gapes
Strange stares,
The like.
Our stories are becoming myths.
I don’t mind.

But let’s reminisce.
I know before
You and I
Collided here
And there
And then
But that’s done now.
We are done with all the lies
With all the tries.
We try to know
What is
I know you will be here
And I know you’ll see her.

In the battle for the woman
Only one could win.
Love is a bitch,
Cold-hearted
Just as clever.
Who would have thought
That in the dawn of a new age
She would also bloom.
The flower is delicate,
Them stem is taut with stress,
The petals however,
Remain beautiful.

I used to be the ground.
You came,
Sun, water, air.
A breath of life
Into the dawn.
I’m not mad
Like I used to be.
Things are clear now.
The plant has vegetated wildly,
Because of you,
the gardener.

I know you will look back.
Can you see the days
When he was scared
Afraid to live,
Afraid to die?
We hated him.
We were terrible.
But she wasn’t,
She stood up for him.
Her team made us realize
What things should be.

I sit on the bench
And look at your gravestone.
Remember the past?
Remember the future?
The present is a much a gift
As it is a curse.
I set down the flowers.
It is their turn to be independent.
They will rely on themselves.
Just like we did.
