Duality
By Tom Stanley

People are often afraid,
Ashamed to let their heart show,
Or to reveal demons long hidden.
We are defined by our darkness,
We embrace our duality,
And are justified by our light.
Our internal, eternal, struggle,
An onslaught of hopes and fears,
Chaos in the guise of perfection.
We are comforted by our failures,
Our mistakes and missteps,
Yet we battle against our self-imposed fate.
We grasp with failing hands,
The precipice we stand at,
Letting pain guide us to relief.
Let go of the faded vision,
The black veil,
Obscuring the truth.
Open your heart to the world,
Let reality rush over you,
Love and life are blood in your veins.
Embrace you duality,
Your internal strife, disparity,
Of darkness and light.
