Humankind
By Tom Stanley

The great flaw,
Of humankind,
Is that we aren’t in awe of life,
Or the ties that bind.
We forget what we saw,
And all of our dreams,
Our nerves are so raw,
Nothing is what it seems.
Trying to escape the maw,
An abyss of desperation,
Ignoring the simple law,
Of consideration.
So don't let this flaw,
Make peace hard to find,
Always be in awe of life,
And the ties that bind.
